Light air and first across the line!

Last night we had a fun race (not counted for any series points).   Winds were forecasted as from the south at 8 to 12 kts.  What we got was 1 to 5 knots out of the west with a lot of bigger shifts.

6 boats started.  3 dropped pretty quickly during a long lull.  1 (a 420) got out ahead but dropped after rounding the first mark.   The Capri 25 (Grinner) and my boat were the last left to keep at it.  We got a good lead on the upwind leg and managed to keep it to the end.  We crossed just 10-15 seconds ahead of Grinner.

This Wilderness 21 is pretty good in light air.  The giant genoa (a 150% or 155%) is made for these nights.  It is a laminate that can have a good shape in very little wind.   Replaced the top batten on the main just before the race.  Great difference on the shape.

New guest crew for the day.  They are getting their new-to-them boat up and going for possible racing and fun next year.
